The book INVENTÓRIA marks the first chapter in a series of exhibitions at Casa São Roque entitled A Casa e o Atelier, which in the group shows that follow will examine the phenomenon of artists’ homes and studios – the relationship between the place where art is made and the place where life is lived.
Jotta’s work is inseparably linked to the interior – to his house, which as a great work of art resembles a construction somewhere between Schwitters’ Merzbau, the Wunderkammer, or Dieter Roth’s house-atelier, full of things and works of art, where it is impossible to distinguish the status of each of them, and where it is also almost impossible to move, dominated as it is by a total horror vacui. In the INVENTORY exhibition, Jotta constructs an inverted scenario: vacui love and emptiness become the main theme of this radical installation.
For those interested and curious about Ana Jotta’s work, this piece is part of her artistic legacy.
