Villa J
Casa São Roque, the former home of the Ramos Pinto family, opened in 2019 after extensive renovation. Its program started with Inventória, a solo exhibition by the Portuguese artist Ana Jotta (J), featuring works from the Peter Meeker Collection. Seven years later, Casa São Roque once again welcomes J (in Portuguese, the letter J is pronounced “Jota”). The artist’s work will occupy the upper floor on a permanent basis, with an opening reception on October 24, 2026 at 4 p.m.
Oficina Arara – A Conspiração Dos Pássaros (A Conspiracy of Birds)
Oficina Arara is an art collective founded in 2010 and based in Porto, Portugal. It is the city’s most public unknown artist, and this is one of its most comprehensive exhibitions to date. On display are over 200 works by a wide variety of contributors, as the collective includes painters, computer scientists, self-taught artists, musicians, printmakers, filmmakers, vernacular architects, writers, engineers, visionary inventors and creators and many others.
It’s a Pink Area
One way to describe It’s a Pink Area, an exhibition of new and existing works by New York-based artists Marc Kokopeli and Sydney Schrader, is to say that it’s made of edges and wedges. Alien objects have been inserted into familiar places, creating different geographies and newfound vulnerabilities. They create a kind of pink area, where the sharpened edges of sculpture, video, bodies, technologies, the miraculous, and the mundane seem to coalesce, intersect, or dig into each other, like pieces of splintered wood. These are artworks that pry things open.
Ornata House
German artist Kerstin Brätsch presents her most ambitious installation and site-specific exhibition to date, turning the rooms of this eclectic house inside out — like infinitely malleable dreamscapes.
Visitors will embark on a journey through colour and form, videos, painting and drawing, wallpaper and kites — an immersive experience akin to walking through an inner world, a soul surrendered to perpetual abstraction.
PETER MEEKER COLLECTION WORKS FROM 1988-2024
This exhibition presents a selection of works from the Peter Meeker Collection, an important private contemporary art collection in Porto. It is significant for three reasons: firstly, it is a real collection, not an accumulation. Many people may have the good fortune to collect art, but very few have a collection that is anything more than a wonderful accumulation. Among the few who have a collection, there are even fewer who have one that is significant. But that is the case here, because this collector (Peter Meeker is a pseudonym for Pedro Álvares Ribeiro) collects in depth.

Peter Meeker Collection: Works from 1982 – 2023 is an extensive exhibition on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of Casa São Roque – Centro de Arte in Porto, Campanhã. It presents selection from Peter Meeker’s (Pedro Álvares Ribeiro’s) international art collection, which started in the 1980s in Porto, includes 40 artists and over 600 artworks. Based on the long term friendships and dedication to the collected artists, in many cases it attained extensive representations of their oeuvres and artistic series, which nowadays have become canonical.
